Latin House
Latin House is a mix of house and Latin American music which emerged in the second half of the 1980s in the USA.
American house musicians of Puerto Rican, Cuban or Dominican descent released house records featuring vocals in Spanish or incorporating Latin American music elements, like Jesse Velez' »Girls Out On The Floor« from 1985 and 1986's »Amour Puetro Riqueño (Puerto Rican Lover)« by Raz. Later, not only producers of Latin American descent released Latin house music. Examples are Armand Van Helden's three eps »Pirates of the Caribbean Vol. I-III« between 1992 and 1994 and German producer/dj Ian Pooley who adds Brazilian elements to his house productions.
Latin house classics include 1993's »Da-Me-Lo« by Ralphi Rosario (Presents Digna Fide And The Backstreet Society), C+C Music Factory's »Robi Rob's Boriqua Anthem« (1994) and »Carnival« by 2 In A Room (1995), the latter being released on Cutting Records which became the genre's most representative label during the mid-1990s.
